When you are hoping to save money, you would definitely find all the ways and means just to do it. So, when Halloween’s fast approaching, it’s better to craft a Halloween costume on your own. Anyways, it’s simpler to craft and it’s surely effortless. Now, if you’re looking for a costume to craft yourself, then come up with a cat costume. There are materials you need to get ready with and some steps which you need to follow.

Materials You Need to Get Ready to Craft a Cat Costume

There are materials which you have to prepare so you can already craft a cat costume for your child on Halloween. The materials are 1 black sweatshirt, 1 pair of black sweatpants, a black headband, 1 yard of black felt, 1 yard of white felt, 1 yard of fake fur trim, face paints, 1 square of pink felt, pillow stuffing, and fabric glue.

]]>

Crafting Your Cat Costume

Now that you already have your materials ready, you can now start crafting a cat costume. To start, cut out a circle of white felt. You will be using this for the tummy. Assess the size of the stomach of your sweatshirt. Then cut out the white felt circle and have it glued through fabric glue.

When the sweatshirt is done, you can now start with the tail which you have to add to the seat of your black pants. To create the tail, about 6 inches wide and 2 feet long piece of black felt has to be cut. Fold up the fabric in half lengthwise. Stick both the long and short ends of the fabric. Turn the cat tail inside out so you can stuff it up with cotton fluff.

Fold its open edges. Fasten them together with more glue. After making the cat tail, start doing the ears. Using the black felt, come up with two triangles. On the other hand, cut also two smaller triangles from the pink-colored felt. These four triangles will be utilized for the inside of the ears. Fasten the pink triangles at the center of the black triangles. There you have it, your cat’s ears.

There’s one more thing you need to do before your cat costume is done. Cut out 5 pieces of fluffy fake fur. Use two pieces of these to bind the wrists of the sleeves. Two pieces again will be used to bind the ankles of the pants while the last one is fastened right out of the costume making it more visible. These are the steps to crafting a cat costume.

How to Make Paper Flower Crafts – Lesson 1

You can astonish your friends and new neighbors with the delightful and relaxing hobby of making and learning how to make paper flower crafts.

My six year old niece, my brother in law, and my sister were relocated last summer to my town. They stayed with my wife and I until they found a suitable home for themselves. In the meantime my little niece began withdrawing and displayed a melancholy demeanor. We recognized that she needed to make a few friends to become comfortable and familiar with her new environment because she was feeling lonely and like a stranger in this new environment.

She took an interest in my paper flower crafts hobby and this cheered her up and made her forget about her problems to a degree. Since there were a couple of kids around her age on my street I decided to speak with their parents and invite them over to meet my niece.

Making paper flower craft projects got them all to become very friendly with each other. My niece has now settled in to her new environment thanks to the comradery that our paper flower crafts introduced.

]]>

The following is our first project…

The supplies that are needed for this project can be picked up at the local hobby or art store. First, you need some colored sheets of cardboard paper and some crepe paper (tissue paper). Next, you will need to purchase some glue and colored markers if you don’t already have them at home. Also, two pairs of scissors (one large and one small pair) which you can find at any store. The last thing is a challenging, creative imagination that is willing to think up and create ideas. There are no previous skills needed to create a paper flower craft and almost any image you think up can be created in a short period of time.

Everything from three dimensional paper flower crafts that are placed anywhere and everywhere in viewing sight to single sheet cardboard cut-outs of flowers that are used for the trimming inside the house can be made with this hobby.

The young child’s hand is one of my favorite paper flower craft patterns.

1. Trace the child’s hand on to a piece of cardboard.
2. Cut the tracing if their hand from the paper.
3. With a pencil, curl the fingers.
4. Use the palm of the hand and make a cone (fingers should point outward).
5. Attach the flower to a straw, or something like that, using some glue.
6. Cut some shapes of leaves out of the green construction paper and then glue them to spots on the straw. Repeat this process as many times as desired to create a lovely bouquet of beautiful paper craft flowers.

There are no other hobbies that I know of that are so much fun and inexpensive to do that anybody can do at any age. Paper flower crafts are very relaxing and habit-forming ways that people can use to express their artistic creativity to their friends, or just to meet new people. People will comment on certain crafts that you have created and this will give you a feeling of gratitude and accomplishment. If your looking for a relaxing hobby or just a way to meet your new neighbor, making paper flower crafts is an excellent way to do that.

Halloween is a fun time for everyone to play dress-up. Some costume projects may be difficult, but a lot are actually easy Halloween crafts for kids. Kids can make their own no-sew, homemade costumes and accessories. This article will show you a few ideas on making simple Halloween costumes and accessories.

A Milk Carton Cow Costume

A milk carton that resembles a cow at the same time would be a really cute no-sew costume to make! Young kids will especially love making this costume themselves. Simply cut out the flaps and a hole on two sides of a carton box for the arms to go through. Have your kid paint the box with a white base and black spots using non-toxic poster paint.

Accessories for this Halloween crafts for kids costume is a tail made of paper and yarn which you can attach to the lower part of the box. Simply cut out paper ears and horns and glue to a headband, which your kid can wear to complete the whole look.

Closet Costume

Costumes as Halloween crafts for kids does not always involve creating your own costumes. If kids will rummage through their old clothes, they will find items which they can assemble together creatively for their Halloween costumes. For example, they can use a red hooded sweatshirt for a Little Red Riding Hood costume; their PJ’s for a Sleepwalker costume, and a black sweatshirt and pants for a Ninja Costume. Just add accessories like a basket, a teddy bear, or a mask made out of a plain T-shirt.

]]>

The Halloween Hats

There are easy Halloween crafts for kids that can show you how to make Halloween hats. For a witch’s hat, draw out a semi-circle at the edge of a piece of black paper using a circular template. Cut out the drawing, fold the piece into a cone, and fasten with staples/glue. Cut out a circle (larger in diameter than the cone’s bottom) from the same black paper and then glue or tape the cone on its center. This is your witch’s hat. To make a sorcerer’s hat, simply use the cone and paste cutout paper stars on it. You can also use glue and glitter to create the stars.

Making Halloween Wands

A witch is not a witch, nor a fairy a fairy, and sorcerer a sorcerer if they are without a wand. For this easy Halloween crafts for kids project, use a paintbrush instead of a pencil or straight tube for the wand stick. A paintbrush usually has a more elegant shape.

To make a Halloween crafts for kids’ wand, spray-paint the whole paintbrush and let it sit to dry. Next, draw and cut out two identical paper starts. At the brush-end of the paintbrush, stick the two stars back-to-back, with the brush in between. Use other shapes for a witch’s wand such as a half-moon. For a sorcerer’s wand, place glue on the brush to harden it. Wind yarn or twine around the paintbrush for a Harry Potter-like wand. Spray-paint the whole paintbrush with gold or brown for that realistic effect.

To make any costume realistic and interesting-looking, always remember to add its matching accessories. Both are simple to make with easy Halloween crafts for kids.

When to Use Enamel Shaping to Improve Your Smile

Dr. Glenn Park is a Saratoga Springs-based cosmetic dentistry specialist in practice at Glenn Park DDS PLLC. According to Park, while there are certain dentists who will use enamel shaping to improve the appearance of teeth—especially in cases where a patient is undergoing orthodontic treatment with Invisalign—this type of dental procedure is generally not recommended to use for purely esthetic reasons.

What I Would Not Recommend

Enamel shaping is mostly used to help patients overcome issues of crowding in the mouth. If you have gaps or spacing issues, then it isn’t going to help fix your issue. Enamel shaping involves the removal of some of the enamel from one or more teeth in the mouth, which in turn decreases the strength of the teeth in question. In a normal, healthy tooth, I would not recommend enamel shaping because it could decrease stability years down the line.

Humans only have a certain amount of enamel on their teeth that they are born with, and they cannot add any more later on down the road. Over the course of time, however, most people tend to grind their teeth and do other things to wear down the natural enamel. People have a decreased amount of enamel throughout the course of their lifetimes, so I don’t usually recommend that anyone get rid of the enamel they do have left with enamel shaping unless it’s absolutely necessary.

]]>

Cases Where I Will Do Enamel Shaping

I don’t usually do enamel shaping personally, unless there is a need. One of the few instances where I do recommend enamel shaping for cosmetic purposes is when a patient is already undergoing orthodontic treatment with Invisalign, the clear retainers that orthodontists are now using to help give their patients straighter teeth without the use of metal brackets and wires.

If you were already doing Invisalign, or if you were doing some sort of treatment and the orthodontist asked me to help by doing some enamel shaping, then I will do that. The process of enamel shaping is completely pain-free, and patients don’t even need to have any Novocain during the procedure itself. The reason is because enamel shaping involves only the stripping down and re-contouring of the enamel, and the enamel does not have any nerve tissue in it.

If you were to come into my cosmetic dentistry practice in Saratoga Springs and ask for enamel shaping purely for aesthetic reasons, then I would recommend that you look into orthodontics before delving any deeper into enamel shaping or re-contouring. I usually encourage people to go with traditional orthodontics—and that means either traditional braces or Invisalign. If you go forward with Invisalign as a way to reduce crowding and then find out that you still need some enamel shaping in order to achieve the perfect smile, then it would be at that point when I would go forward with the enamel shaping procedure.

What You Should Remember

Remember, although enamel shaping can change the look of your smile, it can also damage the teeth themselves and cause discomfort or pain down the road. Because you only have a fixed amount of enamel, you should try not to get rid of the enamel you have left—especially if it’s purely for cosmetic reasons.

I do not recommend enamel shaping as part of a standard treatment plan for most people, but there are some people—such as Invisalign patients—who need a bit of enamel shaping to achieve their desired result. As long as you know the potential downsides, it is usually okay to go forward with an enamel shaping procedure.

While minimal work is fine, people should not take any dental procedure, including enamel shaping, to an extreme. Working with a qualified cosmetic dentistry professional in Saratoga Springs is one way to ensure that your enamel shaping will not be done to the degree where the teeth themselves could be hurt. Another way to prevent this over-shaping is to be upfront with your dentist and explain what you do and do not want to happen during the procedure.

Balloon is all time favorite toys for babies. This is called the heartbeat of every party.

Balloon Fish

Balloon fish is easy to make as well as children will enjoy making it. For making this balloon fish you need a small round shaped balloon, a long balloon, black marker and a bit of another big balloon.

To make the balloon fish, blow the big balloon but it should not blow fully. Now, twist it and fold it easily at will. Tie it at the end. Take a round balloon and inflate it until it reaches to oval shape. Tie the longer balloon round the shorter balloon in such a way that both ends of the round balloon project a little at the end. On the front of the fish, make a small loop from the longer balloon; this would resembles the shape of lip of fish. Again, twist and make another lip of fish.

Twist it at an equal distance from the either end to form the bubble and make sure the round balloon cannot turn around. Now, try to twist both the end bubbles together to make the tail of the fish. When the balloons are tied together, tie one end of the piece of long balloon and inflate one end of it and twist a little before half point to form the bubble. Insert the flat end inside the long balloon behind the lips and inflate the other half of the bit and tie the end. Rotate it to hide the end knots downwards and you have the eyes for your fish. Now, use the marker to draw eyes and fins on your fish in desirable manner.

Balloon People

To make a person with balloon is not a difficult thing also, it doesn’t take much time. Even children can make this easily. To make a balloon people, you need a balloon, paper, marker, tape, coin and sticks.

Take a paper and draw the feet with it. Now, blow the balloon and use the marker and sticks to make the face. Tie the balloon. Color and decorate the feet and make a hole in the center. Buying Your Costume New
New halloween costume shopping is a fun experience, and the best place to look for your new costume is on the Web. There are many retailers to choose from, and you want to buy from a halloween costume store that has a good reputation and a large number of choices. The main advantage of purchasing a costume via the internet, is price and selection.

Local costume and novelty shops are a secondary way to pick up a halloween costume. They won’t have quite the selection as an internet retailer, but should have a good basic stock of costumes, masks, and props. You may feel more comfortable buying a costume locally, since it is easier to return than buying from the web.

Buying Your Costume Used
A used halloween costume can be a great value, and if you are strapped for cash might be the way to go. If you develop a costume idea, and make a list of the items you need to complete your ensemble, you can probably find the pieces to create an entire costume with little effort.

Good places to find used costumes are:

* Thrift Store
* Flea Market
* Garage Sales
* Friends or Relatives
* Coworkers
* Newspaper Ads
* Online Auction Sites

Make sure to inspect the quality of the costume, and if you are buying it from the internet or an online auction, get as many detailed photos as possible, and try and get a money back guarantee. Used costumes are a great idea since you may only be wearing the costume one time.

Renting a Costume
Costume rentals is another option you have when preparing for halloween. At the same place where you can buy a new costume locally, it is possible that they offer rentals.
Many times you have to put down a deposit, and the charge for renting the costume depends on how long you intend to have it, and how the time of season. During the halloween season, for example, you can expect to pay more for a costume than any other time of the year.

With the cheap prices of costumes on the internet, we recommend that you just buy one. You can always resell it later if you never use it again, or pass it on to friends and relatives. Renting a halloween costume is an option though, and we wanted to make you aware of it.

Making Your Own Costume
If your a hobbyist, or good at arts and crafts, you may enjoy the satisfaction of creating your very own halloween costume from scratch. All it takes is some imagination, and a little bit of work to produce an original costume.

You may already have a costume in mind, but if not, here are some tips when making your own costume:
* Develop an idea for the halloween costume first, and then look around your house to see if you may have everything you need to make it
* Make a list of materials that you need that have to be bought for the costume. This will save money by sticking to a budget and plan
* When making kids halloween costumes, make sure that they are safe for their age group, and make them visible at night
* Try and be original, the whole point of making your own costume is to stand out and be different

Here are some great ideas for Halloween crafts
The only bad Halloween craft project is the Halloween craft project that takes too long. You know the ones. The craft projects that have so many steps that you’ve lost the attention of your kids before step 2. Give these easy Halloween craft ideas a try. They’re short; they’re sweet; they’re fun and the end results are spooktacular.

Antenna CharactersThese adorable characters look great at the top of your automobile antenna. Hey, if your house is dressed up for Halloween, why shouldn’t your car? With various Halloween-themed colors of flat fun foam (orange, black, white, green), draw a light outline of a pumpkin, ghost, spider or Frankenstein head, approximately 4-inches tall and 3-inches wide. Cut out the shapes and with a single hole punch, punch two holes in each shape, one approximately one inch from the top of the shape and another hole approximately one inch from the bottom of the shape.

With glitter glue or permanent markers, decorate the shape with facial features, an outline or anything you’d like. Allow to dry thoroughly. Once dried, you can attach to your automobile antenna by placing the antenna through the bottom hole from the back of the shape to the front. Then place the antenna through the top hole, front to back. The Antenna Character should be secure and should withstand normal driving conditions.

Halloween MosaicsMosaic art using tiles is very popular nowadays. Kids can duplicate this popular craft using construction paper instead of tiles or glass.
Prior to gathering the children around the table, cut small squares of various colors of paper, orange, red, blue, yellow, white, black, green, etc.

On a piece of heavy stock, white paper, draw the outline of a pumpkin, Frankenstein or other Halloween character.
With a small dab of all-purpose glue on the back of each square, kids can mosaic their way to a uniquely creative masterpiece that can be framed and hung on the wall for many Halloween seasons to come.

Pumpkin PaintingIn less than one hour, you and your child can create the most adorable pumpkin craft ready to proudly display in your home. Pumpkin Painting is the perfect activity for little goblins who aren’t old enough to handle the jack-o-lantern carving duties.

With simple supplies like acrylic paints, markers, newspaper and sealer, kids can paint whimsical, silly faces on their pumpkins. Or they can paint their favorite cartoon character, Halloween motif or harvest design. Painted pumpkins do not rot near as quickly as carved pumpkins so it is much more economical to paint pumpkins rather than carving them and it’s also much safer and more hands-on for toddlers since there is no knife involved.
